Motherhood is a gift and a challenge. Like all of life’s greatest trials, it isn’t easy but it will make you your best self when you invest everything you have.
The consistent topic in my prayers for years as I desperately begged for the opportunity of motherhood was a chance to be ‘’mom’ to someone.
We waited. We made plans and took adventures and waited. Slowly we stopped planning and started asking for medical help. We had disappointing answers and results from surgery and had little hope left. Finally God gave us the opportunity of parenthood when we least expected it. I am now a mother with little sleep, no time to herself, a luxury in clean pajamas, and the biggest smile on the block. “As it turns out, this is the moment you have been waiting for.” I find infinite wisdom in this quote by Lucinda Williams. This truly is the moment I have been praying for and it is hard but so appreciated. There have been tears and moments of complete disbelief in myself. I have risen and I have been thoroughly strengthened with so much more to come. The trick to achieving is to show up. Continue to show up even when it is hard. Treat every day like this is what you have been waiting for. You are sufficiently prepared for this day. Your moment will come. When it does you will hope that you exercised the patience and wisdom it required. Show up with all you have and you will be proud of what you accomplished. This is my approach to motherhood. It is the same approach I’d like to take to each of life’s challenges to be proud of what I produced. Enjoy your moments big and small. Thanks for stopping by!
