This holiday weekend was chaotic, but the rest we did get in, was so needed. Jolene was a dream baby and let us sleep in, which was lovely. Let’s kick off this new chapter with talking about a very important subject in apparel.
After Labor Day we all have the question, can I still wear white? This is a valid question but the short answer is: You can wear white year round, but it is necessary to be intentional. Wearing white should look different than it did during summer. White can be worn selectively all year long. Labor Day signals the end of the fabulous summer season. This offers us the well timed opportunity to box up the white linen sun dresses and cut off shorts.
When tackling the question of wearing white, I would start the conversation with is the white fall appropriate. If you can wear white with evident intention it will look put together. What you want to avoid is looking like you don’t know Labor Day passed.
If it pertains to a white sundress, then by all means, save it until next summer. The weather may still be warm but it is a reminder that fall is approaching and closed toed shoes are now more appropriate with sweaters becoming more and more However, white denim paired with black leather essentials can be worn year round.
White worn in the fall and winter is most likely paired with darker colors and always leaves you covered. If your toes and shoulders are covered then you are well on your way to winterized white.
