With every new season there is something to wear. Astronauts have special gloves, politicians have meaningful pins, and everyday people have their own uniforms. Clothes are exciting and communicative of who you are right now. Think of your clothes; not the ones that hang delicately in your closet avoiding a trip to the dry cleaners. I mean the clothes that are in the clean laundry every Tuesday because you wore them over the weekend…again. I am talking about your favorite tee or pair of jeans. These items speak to who you are. These articles of clothing should be high quality, demanding respect and care, just like you. You are probably thinking of that worn out pair of jeans that you will only part with upon a busted seem. This is you! This is the piece that looks good on your body, or it should. Don’t let this piece remind you of the butt you used to have or the body you will sculpt by summer. The clothes you wear should praise and flatter the body you have today. You are beautiful and lovely at every corner. This fact can be easily forgotten with the daunting approach swimsuit season. Truthfully, It is easy to forget in any season. I have things I don’t appreciate about my body, I believe we all do. At every stage of my life I have disliked categories of my body. All this, only to see it change, and when it does the criticism moves to the present and that old body suddenly glows with complete appreciation as if somehow in that moment it was perfect but I can only see it in past tense. What if, we could shift this sight to the present? What if, we saw our bodies today as our sixty year old selves will appreciate them in our later years? This would be a shimmering miracle with happy results. I believe it is possible and that it starts with those pair of jeans that tend to define us. I have committed to returning anything that doesn’t make me feel like a million bucks. Don’t invest any money, no matter how small, in an article of clothing if it doesn’t embody who you are and encourage you to embrace it with loving thoughts. If you are looking to invest in some new uniform pieces, I suggest you use the SHOPBOP special event as a shopping spree to your advantage. Use code EVENT19 to save 20% and up!
