I have a brother who is a man of few words, in this way we have nothing in common. I am the most expressive of my siblings without contest. If they are reading this they are undoubtedly laughing. This quiet brother is perhaps the most emotionally reserved of the five of us and I admire his poise most of all. When he has something to say it is magnified as he chooses to speak. My brother’s words hold such condensed power because he selects them so carefully. Words are powerful. I think we should all be a little more like my brother holding onto the words that have the most meaning. A few weeks ago a blogger I keep up with online also inspired thought on words and their impact. This influencer is a successful entrepreneur, a mother of two, and yields one million followers on this social media network. This blogger shared a tender post and opened up emotionally; She typed with sincerity “please no negative comments.”. For some reason this statement has rung in my mind playing on a loop even weeks later. This woman has built a highly profitable company, birthed two human beings, and powered through rejection of top fashion companies only to have them request partnership years later and she chooses to end her post with “Please no negative comments”. Why would anyone have to request this? Shouldn’t we all conduct ourselves in a way that assumes the content shared is only seeking an authentic response of love from people who elect to see their posts? Our words can boom with emphasis when we share selectively. Our words can cut deep online or to a loved one when thoughtlessly spilled. Words are a part of our everyday, lets make them beautiful and full of praise. We are all fighting a battle and all needing love.
